A Visit to Kaiping

and of course a studio update

all seasons in one day

Hello again! We are now almost done with our first week of May here in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, or as we lovingly call, the 'Island'. This past weekend was something like a worker's holiday, we had a long weekend and were lucky enough to be invited along on a trip to a nearby city, Kaiping. One of our wonderful professors, Professor He Jian Cheng invited us to travel there with him and his son, Alex. We had a great time!

We were able to explore inside a few of them, the families were very wealthy from work in America or Europe. They returned to China and made these watchtowers from cement, they are a unique blend of European and Chinese architechture. I don't think there is anything else quite like it.

Only Nine Weeks to Go

its going so fast...

all seasons in one day

So since we are leaving China the end of June, it is really setting in how short the remainder of our trip really is! We are making preparations for our return and working in the studio to have interesting works to show.

We have a few pictures from a lovely outing with friends to have dim sum, otherwise known as Cantonese "morning tea". We also went to see an amazing art opening at the Fei Gallery in downtown which featured some amazing Chinese artists who made their own instruments. They had a live concert with the instruments they made by hand and it was very impressive!

Also, we recently had an opening for our show with our oil painting studio, Studio 1. The show is "The Sun at Eight O' Clock" 3rd Exhibition. The show turned out really great, on the third floor of GAFA's beautiful art museum. We were lucky enough to get the chance to make a catalogue of the work in the show, and we were all excited to have a piece featured in it.
